Paradise Inn (01/03/09)

Paradise Inn, a new chain by the Paradise Group of Restaurants. The Funan outlet jus opened recently and West Coast Plaza will also have another outlet in Mar. Unlike its other outlets that serve seafood and 'gourmet' dishes, the menu at Paradise Inn is local traditional and home-made. We ordered Mango Sago, Rock Melon Sago and Barley with Ginko for dessert. However, we were full to the brim and had to 'da bao' the desserts and the Pork Trotter Vermicelli. Overall, food quality and taste were good. It would be better if the food is less salty.

Double-boiled apple with water goby soup - rich in nutrients and healthy. The stock is accompanied with chicken feet and pork ribs, besides its ingredients of fish and apple. The serving is suffient for 4 pax.

Dong Po Pork
- tender and full of collagen
- the meat is tasty from the stewing

Mini wok Tofu
- home-made tofu
- smooth & silky
- the floss added flavor to the tofu

Poached spinach with egg trio
- common dish in China
- the spinach was crunchy and fresh
- poached with chunks of whole garlics

Steamed Cod with spicy bean paste
- fish was fresh
- the crispy pork lard enhanced the taste

Pork trotter vermicelli
- taste is home-cooked
- the trotter meat was tender
- may taste oily for some
- fragrant and yummy
- vermicelli had a QQ feel

Flora tea
- forget-me-not, rose and dried longan
- an excuse to chomp the 'sinful' food that we had

V Day @ Cafe Brios

This is the 2nd time we celebrated V Day @ Cafe Brios.

The setting for the nite was cosy and romantic, with piped-in love songs through the dinner.
For $98 per pax, the spread was sumptous - lobsters, crabs, sashimi, foie gras and lots of sweet pastries, with a glass of Champagne. A door gift is also included. Service of the serving staff was excellent.

Fresh & succulent lobsters

Foie gras with champagne and pear in red wine
- simply irresistible and yummy

Birthday Celeb I

I would like to thank my frens who have always make time to celeb my "wiser by the year" day.
As usual, I always have to think of shedding the extras gained during the 2-3 weeks of feasting. :) So sinful & guilty!!!

Petals & Leaves (19/10/08)

It started to rain when we reached the cafe.
It was a long ride into Neo Tiew Cresc.

We like the rustic ambience.

Dinner @ Inagiku (15/10/08) and Lunch @ Inagiku (18/10/08)

It was a pity that I accidentally deleted 21 photos taken at Inagiku.
Inagiku has been my fav hunt for Jap food esp when they serve their special menus according to the 4 seasons of the year.

For dinner, we had Yose Nabe (seafood hotpot) as well as the Kai tempura set. We were guilty that we could not finish the hotpot. The pleasant surprise was when we were served green tea choc after settling the bill. The green tea choc was awesome, but not on sale :(

For lunch, we chose the Business set lunch and Nabeyaki Udon. The set lunch consisted of chawanmushi, assorted sashimi, grilled eel, rice. The highlight was the simmered pork in miso soup, which was very tender and fine. We were adventurous to try the Wasabi Cherry Sherbet. I would prefer their Mango Sherbet which was seasonal as it was flown from Japan. I was looking forward to tasting their awesome green tea choc again.

Seafood Paradise @ Flyer (12/10/08)

Seafood Paradise has been our regular hunt for crabs.

Stir-fry asparagus

Honey-baked ribs
~ our first taste
~ tasty and sweet
~ meat was tender though I would prefer not to chew into soft bones

Mee goreng
~ yellow noodle is not my choice
~ my cousin's regular order

Our first attempt at their Signature White Pepper Crab
~ not much impact on my taste buds

Our regular choice
~ creamy butter crab
~ sinful yet mouth-watering
We realised that each order tasted differently during each of our visits. We appreciate the cooking consistency at their Defu outlet.

Wood Restaurant & Bar (04 Oct 08)

I was invited to dine at Wood Restaurant & Bar for the launch of La Mer Hydrating Infusion. This being my first visit to Wood, I was quite impressed with the set-up and ambience for the product launch. As we were early, the service staff was ready to serve us choice of cold drinks while waiting for other guests to arrive.

Efforts were made to customise the table mat with La Mer Logo. The handles of the cutlery were customised to resemble bark rings or branches.

I enjoyed the Foccacia Bread with its tinge of herbs and salt. It was delicious. The starter was Salmon Carpaccio with veg terrine. The salmon has a tinge of smoky taste but the veg was bitter. Too much pesticides??

Soup was Wild Mushroom and the mushroom was finely blended.

There were 3 choices of main - Cedar plank roasted salmon, shitake and enoki truffle crust or Grilled Sakura chicken with lemongrass, shallots and parsley or Chilled soba noodles with condiments.

My choice of main was the roasted salmon, which was served on a cedar plank. The crust was strong with mushroom flavor, which was tasty and I could taste the different mushrooms used.

Though the salmon may looked dry on the outside, but it was moist, juicy and tender on the inside.

Dessert was Lychee and mint granite with framboise jelly. It was refreshing and pleasant on the taste buds. The granite was actually crushed ice. :)
